Ministry of Justice makes changes to CDS remuneration
The Ministry of Justice has just approved two CDS Funding Orders today (9 March 2010) which will come into force on 6 April 2010.  These Funding Orders mean that changes to the current Unified Contract (Crime) are necessary.  We have consulted on the contract changes and now have to issue a Contract Notice which will come into effect in 4 weeks time on 6 April 2010

This email alert is notification under Clause 24.1(c) of the Unified Contract (Crime) Standard Terms that the LSC intends to amend the terms of the Unified Contract (Crime) in accordance with the Contract Notice which you can find by following this website address

Lord Bach signed two CDS Funding Orders today, 9 March 2010, to implement changes to the way fees are paid in committal hearings and to reduce certain police station advice and assistance fixed fees.

These reflect the policy announcements of the Ministry of Justice in their response to their consultation paper, "Legal Aid: Funding Reforms".  These Funding Orders come into force on 6 April 2010.  They are legislation which the LSC has to take account of, and which have necessitated an amendment to the Unified Contract (Crime) under Clause 13.2 of the Standard Terms.

Accordingly, we are serving you with a Contract Notice in accordance with Clause 13.10 of the Standard Terms which puts you on notice of the changes that will come into effect on 6 April 2010.

The Contract Notice is on the LSC website and we will be sending out paper copies by post and DX.
