 Civil bid round procurement plans to be published in coming weeks
We said that we would publish our civil bid rounds for 2010 contracts procurement plans during the week beginning 20 July (this week). We’re still reviewing the plans to ensure that they accurately reflect the circumstances of each local area. We still plan to publish some of them this week, and some next week (week beginning 27 July)..

 Changes to the Litigator Graduated Fee Scheme due on 3 August
Changes to the Litigator Graduated Fee Scheme are due to take effect on 3 August 2009. These changes have no impact on the legal aid fund and will apply to cases with a representation order dated post 3 August 2009.

 CLA extends opening hours
Community Legal Advice (CLA) is extending its opening times to make the service more accessible for clients. Since 1 July it has been available until 8pm Monday to Friday. CLA will also be introducing futher means of contact for potential clients over the coming weeks.

This is the last chance for solicitors and barristers to register for the Quality Assurance for Advocates (QAA) research pilot. The pilot is testing possible assessment methods for quality assuring defence advocates.
