 We publish best value tendering consultation response

We've published a response to our consultation on plans to introduce a system of best value tendering (BVT) for crime contracts. The consultation response sets out plans to pilot BVT for defence work carried out by solicitors in police stations and magistrates' courts in two areas: Greater Manchester and Avon & Somerset. The pilots, which will start in July 2010, will be fully evaluated. If successful, BVT will not be introduced across England and Wales before 2013.

 Amendments made to Family Graduated Fee funding order
On 14 July, an amended Family Graduated Fee (FGF) funding order was made. The order will come in to force on 4 August. The FGF changes were announced in February following a full consultation, and will be applicable to all work carried out under new and existing certificates from 4 August 2009.
